According to NASA, the development of the atmospheric C02 has been ever-changing for the last 800,000 years. However, until the 1950s, the levels of carbon dioxide had never risen above 300 parts per million. Since the 1960s, the C02 levels have risen by 90 parts per million to 408 ppm, according to the Earth System Research Observatory in Hawaii.
