SCB assists companies to substitute high carbon commodities for cleaner alternatives, for example,  increasing ethanol in fuel. SCB also helps companies achieve carbon neutrality through carbon credits to abate their emissions; and offers sustainable certifications to individuals and small businesses with the ‘ClimatePositive‘ label.

Global context

The UN climate conference COP26 in November 2021 saw UN members back governments to trade emissions, adopting a market-based solution. There has been a strong growth of the voluntary carbon market (VCM) over the past three years. Adoption of voluntary carbon credits grew 30% p/a to 2019 and could grow from 30% to 50% a year until 2030 (Trove). Trading on carbon markets grew by 164% in 2021, to EUR760bn ($897bn) (The Economist).
