SCB Walks the Talk when it comes to sustainability and is certified with two of the top international verified sustainability standards.
“At SCB, we walk the talk in demonstrating our commitment to sustainable development. In addition to becoming carbon neutral, SCB has attained the highest sustainability standards of ISO 140001 and B Corp” said SCB CEO and Director of Sustainability, Kevin McGeeney.
SCB’s sustainability certificates show that the company meets the highest verified criteria, including social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
SCB pursues a low carbon future through Brokerage, Matched Principal, Advisory and Market Data services in sustainable commodities and renewable energy, providing products to clients and partners to deal with the many facets of climate change.
B Corp
SCB meets high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving, to supply chain practices and input materials, according to B Lab, which measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact.
The B Impact Assessment looks at five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers, and implements the triple bottom line approach (people, planet and profit) to address social and environmental challenges.
“SCB shows leadership and commitment in taking responsibility for its activities by making a positive impact. As a pioneer Certified B Corp in their industry, SCB joins a movement of 100 national and more than 6,000 international companies committed to constant improvement and to fostering an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.” said Jonathan Normand, Executive Director of B Lab.
SCB became a Certified B Corporation® across five global offices in 2021, scoring a total of 97.3 points on the B Corp assessment, passing the minimum requirement by 17.3 points. See our B Impact Score here.
B Corp was described by Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in the following terms:
“I often wonder to what extent business can help society in its goals and alleviate poverty, preserve ecosystems, and build strong communities and institutions… B Lab has proven that there is a way.”
ISO 14001
SCB attained the ISO 14001 certification – also in 2021 – which shows SCB has demonstrated the implementation of an environmental management system, improving its environmental performance. The scope includes all SCB’s business activities. Certification was granted by QMS International, an independent business management consultancy.
