SCB Group launches its latest Sustainability Update as the UNFCCC COP28 opens. This strategic timing aligns with the global focus on climate action and sustainability. The report highlights SCB’s pivotal role in abating over 622 million metric tonnes of CO2 by the end of 2022, marking a significant milestone in global efforts to tackle climate change.
Kevin McGeeney, CEO of SCB Group states, “We’re deeply committed to shaping a low-carbon future. We not only guide businesses to achieve their environmental aspirations but also set and rigorously adhere to ambitious sustainability targets ourselves. Our journey is about collective progress and unwavering accountability.”
This update is more than just a report; it’s a testament to SCB’s commitment to a sustainable future. Since July 2021, SCB has been aggressively working towards net-zero GHG emissions by 2030 having achieved carbon neutrality in 2021, a significant feat accomplished through direct emissions reductions and offsets for residual emissions.
A noteworthy aspect of SCB’s strategy is its focus on office premises and business travel, potentially major emission sources. The group has made remarkable progress, with three out of five offices now powered by renewable electricity and employing energy-efficient strategies. The ultimate goal is for all offices to switch to renewable energy by 2030.
SCB is committed to minimizing its scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and neutralizing any hard-to-eliminate emissions, a commitment adhered to since the end of 2021. This comprehensive approach underscores SCB’s dedication to not just corporate responsibility but also to being a leader in the global sustainability movement.
